Alexa Bliss Reveals Inspiration for Harley Quinn Look at WWE Backlash
Alexa Bliss spoke in a recent interview with Cleveland.com about her idea for dressing up like Harley Quinn at WWE Backlash.
Alexa Bliss has quickly risen up the ladder in the SmackDown women’s division. She has received plenty of air time since being called up in July, including being part of the first SmackDown Women’s Championship match at Backlash. Becky Lynch would win this, but she hadn’t been the only one that stood out.
For that match, Bliss came out in a Harley Quinn-esque outfit, one that got WWE and comic book fans hyped. She looked similar to the recent Quinn character, played by Margot Robbie, from the movie “Suicide Squad”.
In a recent interview with Cleveland.com, the Five Feet of Fury noted her inspiration behind the look from Backlash.
“I am a Harley Quinn fan. I am a big fan of characters in general. When I was in NXT, we would dress up in themes like Freddy Krueger and Iron Man. [Buddy] Murphy, who wrestles in NXT, just recently dressed up as Two-Face. And I was like, man wish I could do that stuff. I really want to do a Harley Quinn inspired outfit. So he helped me come up with it.”
Bliss also talked about her “love” of being a villain and how it can be.
The 25 year old’s heel persona has definitely thrived since she turned in the spring of 2015. Her previous babyface character had little direction, and seemed tentative. The other side of Bliss has shown her fiery promos and aggressive move set in the ring.
Alexa Bliss will take these talents to WWE No Mercy, where she’ll challenge Lynch for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. It’s the former’s first main roster one on one opportunity for a title. She didn’t capture a belt in NXT, so there may be a golden opportunity on Sunday, October 9.
