Thomas scores 17, Maryland beats Delaware St 79-49
Alyssa Thomas scored 17 points and No. 19 Maryland beat Delaware State 79-49 Sunday, extending the Terrapins' winning streak to nine.
The Terrapins (10-1) began the second half on a 22-5 run to put away the Hornets (1-7).
Lynetta Kizer had 16 points and 10 rebounds, Tianna Hawkins scored 15 points and Alicia DeVaughn scored 13 in Maryland's first game since Dec. 10.
Kizer also had four blocks. The Terrapins shot 50.9 percent from the floor.
Deanna Harmon led Delaware State with 11 and Kianna Conner scored 10.
The Hornets took their first lead with six minutes left in the first half, using a 12-3 run to go up 25-24. Maryland scored the half's last 10 points, including a layup by Anjale Barrett as time expired.
