Kamille Wahlin scored 14 points and Kachine Alexander added 12 to help No. 22 Iowa beat Arkansas State 50-47 in the Islander Tip-Off tournament championship game Saturday night.

The game was tied at 40 with 5:16 remaining when the Hawkeyes (2-0) went on a 5-0 run to open a little room, scoring on a pair of free throws by Alexander, who made all her 10 attempts from the line, and a 3-pointer by Wahlin.

Alexander, who earned MVP honors, made just one of her nine shots.

Shania Hurst's 3-pointer pulled the Red Wolves (1-1) to 48-47 with 45 seconds left, but Morgan Johnson knocked down a jumper with 24 seconds left to restore the three-point lead.

Arkansas State had one last chance, but Jazmine Taylor's 3-pointer hit off the back of the rim and bounced off the top of the backboard, and the Hawkeyes corralled the rebound to end the game.

Hurst scored 12 points to lead Arkansas State.
