No. 22 Georgia defeats Georgia State 70-58

Shacobia Barbee scored 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as undefeated No. 22 Georgia beat Georgia State 70-58 Sunday in the Georgia State Thanksgiving Invitational championship.

Barbee also had a game-high seven steals and six assists. Erika Ford and Tiaria Griffin each added 14 points.

Georgia (8-0) has a 16-game winning streak against Georgia State (2-6), dating back to 1982.

Georgia State led 51-44 with 12:11 remaining after a Kendra Long 3-pointer. Long scored 22 points, but did not score after the 3-pointer. Georgia tied the game at 53 on a pair of Krista Donald free throws. Griffin followed with a basket to give the Lady Bulldogs the lead for good, 53-51.

Georgia State is coached by Sharon Baldwin-Tener, who played for Georgia from 1988-90, and was a Lady Bulldog assistant coach from 1992-1998.

George Washington defeated Jacksonville State 100-71 in the third-place game.
