No. 14 Louisville 75, Washington St. 71

Shawnta' Dyer scored 16 points and Shoni Schimmel added 14 to help No. 14 Louisville beat Washington State 75-71 on Monday night.

Schimmel had eight of her points in the last 2 minutes to help the Cardinals (11-2) secure the victory. Becky Burke also had 14 points for Louisville, which has won four straight.

''I was really impressed with how Shoni held it together and came through down the stretch for us,'' Louisville coach Jeff Walz said.

Ireti Amojo had 22 points to lead Washington State (6-5).

After being down by nine points in the second half, Louisville came back to tie the game at 57 on Cierra Warren's lay-up with 6:16 left. That began a 10-0 run that put the Cardinal up 65-57.

Washington State's Sage Romberg hit a 3-pointer with 12 seconds to cut the lead to two, but a technical foul called on coach June Daugherty for excessive timeouts sealed the win for Louisville.

''We were close, we needed to do the simple things and keep our focus on Schimmel and Becky Burke, and we didn't, and you see what Shoni did to us in the end.'' Daugherty said.
