Hofstra women upend No. 23 James Madison 63-62

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) Ashunae Durant scored 12 points, including two free throws with nine seconds left, and Hofstra held on to upset No. 23 James Madison 63-62 on Sunday.

After Durant's free throws made it 63-60, Precious Hall missed a 3-pointer and Da'Lishia Griffin had a putback at the buzzer.

The loss ended a 14-game winning streak and kept the Dukes (23-3, 14-1) from clinching the Colonial Athletic Association outright title. Hofstra (18-9, 11-5) has won five in a row.

Hofstra led 38-32 at halftime and stretched that to 17 with 12:32 to play on a Durant layup. Then the Dukes came back behind Hall, who had 16 of her 26 points after that.

Jazmon Gwathmey's basket tied the game at 59 with 1:15 left but Anjaleace White, who had 13 points, made two free throws to put the Pride back in front with 40 seconds to go. After a Hall miss and a Hofstra turnover, Hall was fouled with 14 seconds left but she missed the second free throw, forcing the foul on Durant.
