Canisius hires Hemer to take over women's basketball team
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Scott Hemer has been hired to take over as Canisius College's women's basketball coach.
Hemer spent the past 11 seasons at New York's Geneseo College, where in 2016 he won the Pat Summit Trophy as the Division III national coach of the year. He had a record of 281-89, including an active 40-game regular-season winning streak dating to the 2015-16 season.
Hemer takes over for Terry Zeh, who was fired last month after 14 seasons coaching the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference program.
The Golden Griffins are coming off a 10-20 finish which marked their ninth consecutive losing season.
