Sparks sign Herrington and trade O'Hea to Seattle
LOS ANGELES (AP) The Sparks have signed free agent guard Armintie Herrington, reuniting her with her former college coach Carol Ross.
Herrington averaged 7.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists in eight playoff games with Atlanta last season, leading the Dream to the WNBA finals, where they lost to Minnesota. She had a career-best 65 steals, fourth-best in the league with 2.3 per game.
A seven-year veteran, Herrington started her career with Chicago, where she was the 2007 WNBA rookie of the year. The 5-foot-9 guard was named to the league's all-defensive first team last season.
Herrington played collegiately at Mississippi under Ross.
