Howard scores career-high 25, Storm beat Sun 103-92 (Jun 16, 2018)
SEATTLE (AP) Natasha Howard scored a career-high 25 points, Breanna Stewart had 23 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals, and the Seattle Storm beat the Connecticut Sun 103-92 on Friday night.
Seattle had two four-point possessions in the fourth quarter, the last for a 93-84 lead. The Storm had only one field goal in the final five minutes but made enough free throws.
Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis added 18 points off the bench to help Seattle (8-3) top the century mark for the third time this season.
Chiney Ogwumike scored a career-high 30 points on 13-of-16 shooting for Connecticut (7-3). She fouled out with 1:49 remaining. Jasmine Thomas had a career-high 29 points and Alyssa Thomas, averaging 12 points and 9.9 rebounds in 31.1 minutes, sat out with a shoulder injury.
The teams honored former coach Anne Donovan with a black stripe on their jerseys. Donovan, the 56-year-old Hall of Famer who died Wednesday, led the Storm to a WNBA championship in 2004, becoming the first female coach to win a title in the league. She also coached the Sun, Indiana Fever, Charlotte Sting and New York Liberty.
