UFC signs kickboxing legend Gokhan Saki to compete in light heavyweight division

One of the best kickboxers of all time has just joined the UFC roster as Gokhan Saki has signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion.

UFC officials announced Saki's signing on Thursday.

Saki is known internationally as one of the fiercest knockout artists on the planet with nearly 100 kickboxing matches to his credit, including 83 wins and a career decorated by his vicious fighting style.

Saki made waves in K-1 when the kickboxing promotion was still considered the prime spot for the best strikers in the world. Despite being an undersized heavyweight, Saki took out a slew of top names in his career, including Tyrone Spong, Melvin Manhoef and Ray Sefo.

Saki has only competed once previously in mixed martial arts where he lost to former UFC fighter James Zikic back in 2004.  Since that time, Saki has remained focused on his kickboxing career but now it appears he's ready to pursue mixed martial arts full time as part of the UFC roster.

He plans on competing in the light heavyweight division in the UFC.

There's no word on when Saki will make his debut, but the Dutch kickboxer has expressed interest in the upcoming card in his home country of the Netherlands when the UFC returns to Rotterdam on September 2.
