UFC Houston Results: Milstead Dislocates Knee For A Blaydes TKO Victory
Two up and coming heavyweights met to close out the UFC Houston prelims when the dangerous Adam Milstead (8-1) fought fellow finisher Curtis Blaydes (6-1).
Adam Milstead is on an absolute roll right now with finishing 8 straight fights in a row. His UFC debut was a 2nd round technical knockout over Chris de la Rocha that set him up for tonight’s matchup. Milstead has never seen the third round of a fight, finish 5 fights in the first round and 3 in the second round. Milstead will try to keep his finish streak rolling in his favour when faces fellow dangerous finisher, Curtis Blaydes.
Curtis Blaydes has also never seen the third round in his martial arts career. Blaydes has already had two UFC fights in his career, losing his debut to Francis Ngannou by doctors stoppage and finishing Cody East with a barrage of elbows.
Otherwise, Blaydes has finished every other fight he’s been in Blaydes outweighed Milstead by 31 pounds for this bout and looked to use that size to pick up his second straight UFC victory.

Curtis Blaydes started the fight with 3 massive takedowns, suplex really. Not even 30 seconds in and Blaydes had Milstead in all sorts of trouble. Once Milstead worked his way up slowly, he was promptly thrown back down again and Blaydes continued to hammer away.
Milstead clearly winced in pain after being wrestled down for the fifth time. Curtis Blaydes with 1:30 left to go in the first had 6 takedowns. Not even 45 seconds later it was 7 takedowns. Brian Stann confirmed on the broadcast that Milstead’s knee got caught in an awkward position on one of the earlier takedowns. Blaydes finished the round on top and finished with a clear victory in the first.
More from Cage Pages
Curtis took him right to the cage and scored yet another takedown and this one was too much for Milstead to handle. His knee completely dislocated and his corner should be ashamed for letting him walk back out there and fight. Saving your fighter from further injury should be a top priority for any corner and Milstead may now be in long-term recovery and his knee may never be the same. All corners in the future should take notice when their fighters are clear unable to continue because this is becoming a real issue.
Adam Milstead also had his college football career end because of a torn ACL. To see his fight career be put in jeopardy because of the same thing is something his corner should have been aware of and it is on them torecognisee when their fighter is unable to continue to prevent an injury like this. Such a shame because Milstead still has his whole career ahead of him and that will likely have to be put on hold.
