UFC bantamweight Brian Bowles arrested on felony drug and weapons charges

UFC bantamweight and former WEC champion Brian Bowles was arrested on Jan. 14 on several drugs and weapons charges stemming from a search warrant that was executed at his home in Arcade, Georgia.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff's office, Bowles was arrested along with Rhomney Marie Moon after police officers arrived at their residence on Stoner Road looking to execute a warrant against a female believed to be at the address.

The woman in question was not at the residence, but upon arriving police found that Moon had an outstanding probation warrant against her name.

A search warrant was ordered at the scene, and police say they then found several different drugs in the house including methamphetamine, marijuana, other narcotics and a gun, as well as packaging materials for the drugs.

Both Moon and Bowles were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a schedule IV drug, possession of a schedule IV drug with intent to sell, possession of marijuana as well as intent to sell, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Police records show the additional drug charge stemmed from possession of diazepam, also more commonly known as Valium.

The charges are all listed as felony offenses.

Bowles is still in custody and has been in the Jackson County Jail for two weeks.

Sherdog.com first reported the arrest.

The former WEC champion last fought in the UFC in May 2013 when he lost by TKO to George Roop. After the fight, Bowles tested positive for elevated levels of testosterone and was suspended nine months and fined $5,700.

Bowles never contested the drug test results, but hasn't been scheduled for a fight since that time, although he is still listed on the roster for UFC fighters.
