'UFC 189 Embedded' Ep. 2: 'This is a bad matchup for McGregor'

On episode two of "UFC 189 Embedded", Chad Mendes' teammate Urijah Faber takes a ride with the contender and grabs some breakfast, while analyzing their featherweight title fight against Conor McGregor. While "The California Kid" doesn't deny McGregor's very good stand-up striking, he doesn't see it being as effective against his Team Alpha Male soldier as it has been against previous opponents.

"This is a bad matchup for McGregor," Faber began.

"His biggest thing is solid stand-up, but he's kind of creative with it. But that works [with] guys who are scared, and cower and move out of position. For someone that stands, stays put and stays protected, it's not that dangerous."

Just like Alpha Male teammate Joseph Benavidez told us earlier this week, Faber believes that Mendes' experience will lead to an advantageous comfort level inside the Octagon on July 11. "McGregor has never fought somebody who is going to be as comfortable as Chad in the Octagon," he reasoned.

As for Mendes' brief training camp for UFC 189, Faber calmly asserts that some of the featherweight's best fights have come after shorter camps. "Chad has found a recipe for himself that has been shorter training camps," he said.

"That's been the key to some of his best fights."
