Tyron Woodley replaces injured Hector Lombard against Dong Hyun Kim in Macau

Tyron Woodley won't wait long to get the bitter taste of his recent defeat out of his mouth. The American Top Team product, who lost just days ago at UFC 174, has replaced injured teammate Hector Lombard in a UFC Fight Night match against Dong Hyun Kim set for Aug. 23 in Macau.

UFC president Dana White announced the switch in plans during a media tour for the event.

No. 4 ranked Woodley (13-3) was a target of criticism from White after his UFC 174 loss to Rory MacDonald. Speaking shortly after the bout, White said Woodley "choked in the big fights."

He'll certainly have a chance to make the UFC president eat his words, as the bout with Kim, who is ranked No. 9, is the night's co-main event.

White's broadside had been a bit of selective memory anyway, given that Woodley had won three of four prior to the MacDonald loss, including victories over Carlos Condit and Josh Koscheck.

Meanwhile, a victory might serve to get Kim (19-2-1, 1 NC) inside the UFC's top five. The Korean-born fighter has won four straight, including consecutive knockouts of John Hathaway and Erick Silva.

No information was provided on the nature of Lombard's injury, or a timetable on his return. He and Woodley train together at American Top Team.

The Aug. 23 UFC Fight Night card takes place at the CotaiArena, and will be headlined by middleweights Cung Le and Michael Bisping.
