TMZ: UFC's Josh Samman Died From 'Probable Drug Overdose'

TMZ has reportedly reached out to the medical examiner assigned to the late Josh Samman.

The circumstances surrounding the coma and then passing of former UFC middleweight Josh Samman were unknown for over a week. Now according to the Broward County Medical Examiner, Samman’s cause of death is listed as “Probable Drug Overdose.”

According to TMZ, Troy Kirkingburg, who was found with Samman; tested positive for Xanax, cocaine, heroin, and alcohol. The examiner is said to have concluded that Kirkingburg did die of an accidental drug overdose. His official cause of death is listed as “multi-drug toxicity.”

The examiner also went on to say that there was no sample for Samman due to his length of hospitalization.

“His cause of death is probable drug overdose based on the circumstances and hospital drug screen that was positive for drugs, but we could not confirm this as they only hold specimens for three days.”

Samman and his roommate Troy Kirkingburg were discovered in their apartment on September 30, 2016. Kirkingburg was announced dead at the scene while Samman spent several days in a coma. Samman would eventually pass on October 5th. At that time, there was no drugs found in his system or any evidence of foul play.

Josh Samman had a three year career in the UFC. During that time, Samman was 3-2 with two knockouts and one submission. He was scheduled to fight Oluwale Bamgbose in December prior to his death.

Samman was a part of the 17th season of The Ultimate Fighter reality show. In Florida, Samman was known as one of the sports biggest promoters. Having the largest amatuer promotion in the state. He was also a published writer and contributor to Bloody Elbow. He officially became part of the staff in March 2015.
