Steve Bosse: I'm still focused on fighting

MONTREAL --- When a judge's injunction forced Quinton "Rampage" Jackson off of UFC 186, former hockey player Steve Bosse was brought in as a replacement to face Fabio Maldonado. Given that he was retired, it took a lot to get Bosse to agree to get back into the cage.

Fighting in a UFC co-main event in his home town was just the thing. "There was a lot of excitement," he tells FOX Sports.

"Getting to be on the main card, against a great fighter, and in Montreal, my home. It was a great opportunity and I couldn't pass it up."

The opportunity may have passed him up, however. Earlier this week another judge lifted the injunction granted Bellator to prevent Jackson from fighting for the UFC, and the former champion was put back into his bout with Maldonado.

Bosse was out, Jackson was back in. However, as of Thursday afternoon, Bosse still held on some hope that he could get to fight the Brazilian, after all.

"You know, I still feel like I'm going to fight," he revealed.

"They could put an injunction back on, we don't know."

So, Bosse met with media today in Montreal, still in a fighting state of mind. If something else does happen to force Jackson out once more, Bosse wants to make sure that he is psychologically ready.

"I'm staying focused. I think we will know by tonight at six, though, whether or not we are going to fight. Weight wouldn't be a problem. The fight is at 215 [pounds], and I'm 225, now. I could make weight easily. So, until then, I just have my fingers crossed."

The chance to fight at UFC 186 got the former ice enforcer out of MMA retirement, but he says that he's back, whether or not he gets to fight on Saturday. "I'm definitely motivated again," he says.

"I feel the UFC, now. Before, even with a contract, I didn't feel like I was in the UFC. Now, I'm so excited and motivated to fight again. It's back. One way or another, I will fight again, and it will be in the UFC."
