Ryan Bader out; Dan Henderson vs. Tim Boetsch promoted to main event at UFC in New Orleans
Following the removal of Daniel Cormier from the upcoming UFC Fight Night card in New Orleans, his opponent Ryan Bader has also been yanked as the show moves forward with middleweights Dan Henderson and Tim Boetsch set as the new main event.
UFC officials confirmed the news on Monday.
Henderson and Boetsch were already set to face off on the card, but now they have been promoted to main event status with both fighters in need of a win.
Henderson has gone just 1-5 in his past six bouts while dropping down to the middleweight division in his most recent bout against Gegard Mousasi.
Meanwhile, Boetsch has bounced back and forth between wins and losses over his last four fights and most recently fell to Thales Leites in a Fight of the Night performance in January.
The new co-main event for the card will be the heavyweight bout between Ben Rothwell and Matt Mitrione.
There has been no word on when Bader will return to action, although he believes he should be next in line for the title shot against the winner of the UFC 187 main event to crown a new light heavyweight champion between Cormier and Anthony Johnson.
