Rory MacDonald thinks Conor McGregor did the right thing

UFC welterweight contender Rory MacDonald thinks his fellow fighters can learn a thing or two from embattled featherweight champion Conor McGregor

MacDonald threw his support behind the Irishman on Saturday during a string of tweets that implored other UFC combatants to find out what they're truly worth.

Lightweight contender Michael Johnson replied to the tweet, pointing out that not every fighter has the financial security McGregor has, which may stifle their voice.

According to a list of disclosed salaries from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, MacDonald made just $59,000 at UFC 189 during his Fight of the Year brawl with Robbie Lawler, while McGregor made $500,000 for his bout against Chad Mendes on the same card.

MacDonald has been very vocal recently about making the most money possible on his next contract. If the UFC isn't willing to show him the money, his last fight for the promotion could be his headlining bout against Stephen Thompson. But ideally, MacDonald said he'd take care of business June 18 and re-sign on his terms.
