Rony Jason smashes wall backstage, needs 35 stitches

Rony Jason's evening went from bad to worse after Saturday'€™s UFC Fight Night event, culminating in an emergency trip to the hospital. After suffering his first UFC loss via head kick to Jeremy Stephens, a frustrated Jason put his left elbow through a plexiglass wall backstage, slicing open his arm in the process.

According to Jason'€™s team, the fighter needed 35 stitches to close several wounds he suffered in the incident. It could have been even worse, as it was originally feared that he had broken a bone.

Jason hadn'€™t lost in nearly four years, since a TKO due to a doctor stoppage in Dec. 2009.

The 29-year-old entered the promotion in 2012 after winning the inaugural season of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil, defeating Godofredo Pepey in the final.

He had been 3-0 in the organization until clashing with Stephens.

On the bright side, UFC president Dana White said he wouldn’t face any additional repercussion for his backstage outburst.

"€œListen, this stuff happens,"€ White said. "€œEspecially young guys. A big loss like that. A devastating loss like that, you do stupid stuff sometimes. I don'€™t think he expected to slice his arm open and get hurt, but it happens."
