Ronda Rousey Inks Pantene Deal, UFC Retirement Imminent

Even though the reign of Ronda Rousey will soon come to an end, that doesn’t mean she won’t be on your screen.

Grey New York, an advertising company, announced this week that Pantene’s ‘Strong is Beautiful’ campaign will feature former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion – “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey.

Rousey will now appear in advertisements across all media platforms for the Pantene brand. The 30-second spots feature Ronda throwing punches in MMA attire, mixed with footage of her fully dressed up – showcasing the two public faces of the most important figure in WMMA history.

The former champ noted that she’s not the first person people think of when they imagine a co-collaborator with a beauty brand, but said that strength isn’t only about muscles, but rather about having a heart and finding inner confidence.

“I’m honored that Pantene asked me to be part of their new campaign that encourages women to break gender barriers; break the glass ceiling and never settle,” stated Ronda Rousey.

Rousey will square off against newly crowned women’s 135-pound champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207, in Las Vegas. She hasn’t competed since her devastating head kick knockout loss to Holly Holm last November at UFC 193 and now she will look to obtain UFC gold for the second time in her career.

“I don’t think after this fight,” Rousey said last night on Conan about her impending retirement, “Definitely soon,” she added.

Without the pressure of keeping the women’s bantamweight division relevant, the 2008 Olympic Judo Bronze Medalist says that she will instead focus on keeping herself happy.

“I’ve done a lot of learning in this last year and I’ve learned that the views I get and the money I make really doesn’t mean anything for me or my happiness,” Rousey said. She also chooses not to promote the fights as much as she once did, citing 12-hour ESPN interviews as a chore.

Rousey has previously acted in big budget films, where she starred in movies like The Expendables 3, Furious 7, and Entourage.

UFC 207 takes place Friday, December 30.
