Raquel Pennington calls out winner of Cat Zingano vs. Julianna Pena
Raquel Pennington picked up a big win on Saturday night defeating former title challenger Bethe Correia and now she's targeting a top five opponent for her next fight.
Pennington battled through three hard fought rounds with Correia in a back-and-forth slugfest that resulted in a split decision win for the former "Ultimate Fighter" contender.
After the fight was over, Pennington wasted no time calling out either Cat Zingano or Julianna Pena, who are scheduled to meet at UFC 200 on July 9 in Las Vegas.
"That was a three-round war. We just went after it. At the end of the day I did what I had to do to win rounds," Pennington said. "I expected her to come out very aggressive like her past fights, but when I saw she was standoffish I needed to push the pace and move forward. The goal was to get the win and move up the rankings.
"I want the winner of the Cat Zingano/Julianna Pena next."
Pennington certainly stakes a claim to a top five opponent after beating Correia, who last fought in 2015 when she was knocked out by Ronda Rousey in a women's bantamweight title fight.
Pennington already gave former champion Holly Holm an incredibly tough fight after going to a split decision with her in 2015.
Pennington now moves to 4-2 in the UFC with two consecutive victories following her win over Correia.
