Luke Rockhold injured and out of rematch with 'Jacare' Souza

Luke Rockhold will have to wait for another chance to pursue a shot at the middleweight title after suffering an injury in training that has forced him out of his upcoming rematch with Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza in Australia.

Sources close to the situation confirmed to FOX Sports on Tuesday that Rockhold suffered a sprained ACL in his knee and he had to drop out of the fight with Souza scheduled for Nov. 26.

With Rockhold out, 'Jacare' is left without an opponent and there's no word whether or not the UFC will find a replacement opponent for the No. 3 ranked middleweight contender. News of the change in the fight was first reported by MMAFighting.com.

As of now, there is no exact timeline for Rockhold's return to action.

The fight with 'Jacare' was a rematch from their first fight in 2011 when Rockhold defeated the Brazilian to win the Strikeforce middleweight title.

If 'Jacare' doesn't remain on the card in Australia, another middleweight fight is scheduled for the co-main event as local favorite Robert Whittaker takes on Derek Brunson.
