Louis Smolka vs. Sergio Pettis set for UFC Fight Night in Oregon

A flyweight matchup between Louis Smolka and Sergio Pettis is set for October 1 in Portland as the first confirmed bout for the UFC's return to Oregon in seven years.

UFC officials confirmed the new bout to FOX Sports on Monday.

Currently riding a four-fight win streak, Smolka has quickly become one of the most talked about competitors in the 125 pound division as he moves closer and closer to title contention.

Most recently, Smolka dispatched Ben Nguyen by TKO at UFC Fight Night in South Dakota, which was his third finish out of his last four fights.

Pettis will look to stop his momentum as he attempts to get his third win in a row following victories over former title challenger Chris Cariaso and Chris Kelades.

Pettis has been considered one of the top prospects in the flyweight division ever since he arrived in the UFC and now he'll get a shot at a top 10 opponent in Smolka in October.

The bout between Smolka and Pettis is the first announced fight for the card in Oregon with a main event fight still to be determined. UFC Fight Night from Portland will air live on FS1 on Oct. 1.

UPDATE: The UFC has also added two more bouts to the card including Nate Marquardt vs. Tamdan McCrory at middleweight and Walt Harris vs. Shamil Abdurakhimov at heavyweight.
