Kelvin Gastelum, Vitor Belfort on weight ahead of main event showdown in Brazil

When Kelvin Gastelum was fighting at 170-pounds, weigh-in day was always a tense event because the former "Ultimate Fighter" winner struggled mightily to get down to that welterweight limit.

Gastelum experiences no such struggles now that he's competing at middleweight, however, and was all smiles on the scale Friday morning in Brazil ahead of his main event showdown with UFC legend Vitor Belfort.

Gastelum tipped the scale at 185 pounds on the dot for his fight this weekend while Belfort came in at 186 pounds as he looks to get back on track following two consecutive losses.

While Gastelum seems to have found a home at 185-pounds, he told FOX Sports ahead of the event that he still feels welterweight is the best place for him.

"In my head, yeah, I feel like welterweight's still my optimal weight class," Gastelum said. "I'm still figuring out my body and figuring out these weight cuts to make it easier. I'm still growing and learning with this. I'm rolling with the punches.

"You've got to learn and roll with the punches and grow from these experiences."

In the co-main event, former light heavyweight champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua hit the scale at 206 pounds, which was matched with an identical weight by his opponent Gian Villante.

The two hard-hitting light heavyweights will both look to capitalize on recent wins when they meet this weekend in Brazil.

A key matchup at lightweight also takes place this weekend as Edson Barboza looks for his third straight win after taking out Gilbert Melendez and Anthony Pettis in consecutive fights. Barboza came in at 155 pounds for his matchup with fellow top 10 lightweight Beneil Dariush, who hit the scale at 156 pounds.
