Johny Hendricks isn't interested in anything but a title shot next

Former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks is headed to UFC 189 to watch the co-main event between Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald with plans to challenge the winner for his next fight.

According to Hendricks' manager Ted Erhardt via UFC Tonight's Ariel Helwani, Hendricks has been told by the UFC that he's next in line for a title shot, but they aren't banking on anything until the contract has been offered.

Hendricks has no interest in any other matchup besides challenging for the title, especially after he was already supposed to fight for the belt before accepting a bout against No. 5 ranked Matt Brown at UFC 185 in March.

Hendricks won the fight by unanimous decision, and now he's targeting a title fight because nothing else makes much sense to the former champion.

Hendricks dropped the belt last December in a close decision to Lawler, who he's now 1-1 against after beating him to win the title in March 2014.  Hendricks and Lawler appeared headed for a third and final rubber match until the UFC decided to give the shot to Rory MacDonald instead.

As for Tyron Woodley, who has been shouting for the chance to face Hendricks later this year, he's still holding out hope that the UFC will make the fight happen.

The promotion hasn't told Woodley the fight is absolutely off the table so he still wants to face Hendricks for his next fight.
