Glover Teixeira vs. Phil Davis agreed for UFC 179 in Brazil
Two of the top light heavyweights in the UFC will both look to bounce back from recent losses when they meet at UFC 179 in Brazil as Glover Teixeira faces Phil Davis on October 25 as part of the card in Brazil.
The fight was first reported by Brazilian outlet PVT and additional sources confirmed the fight to FOX Sports on Friday.
Teixeira (22-3) will look to rebound after suffering a lopsided loss to UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, which marked the end of a 20-fight win streak for the Brazilian.
Meanwhile, Davis (12-2, 1 NC) will also hope to return to form when he travels to Brazil for the third time for a fight in the UFC as he looks to erase the memory of his last fight where he lost a unanimous decision to current light heavyweight powerhouse Anthony Johnson.
Davis has had great success as an American fighting in Brazil where he currently holds a 2-0 record overall, but this will certainly be a stiff test as he looks to go three for three.
The bout between Teixeira and Davis will be featured alongside the main event between featherweight champion Jose Aldo and top rated contender Chad Mendes. There's no word yet on where the Teixeira vs. Davis fight will fight on the card, but it could end up as high as a co-main event depending on how different matchups are made in the coming weeks.
