Glover Teixeira off FOX card in July, still expected to face 'Rumble' Johnson

Top-five ranked light heavyweight contender Glover Teixeira will no longer be fighting at FOX UFC Fight Night in July after his opponent Anthony "Rumble" Johnson was forced off the card for personal reasons.

UFC officials confirmed the news on Friday.

Instead of Teixeira facing a replacement opponent, it appears the UFC hopes to re-book his fight with Johnson for another date later this year.

Teixeira and Johnson are the two most likely contenders to earn the next title shot against the winner of the UFC 200 main event between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones so the fight makes a lot of sense on paper.

Anthony "Rumble" Johnson still expected to face Glover Teixeira next

Johnson pulled out of the card a week ago due to "a serious family matter", which forced him to forgo the upcoming fight with Teixeira in July.

Now the Brazilian slugger will have to keep busy this summer while he waits for a new date with plans to face Johnson this year.

FOX UFC Fight Night goes down on July 23 from Chicago with former women's bantamweight champion Holly Holm facing heavy-handed striker Valentina Shevchenko in the main event.
