Eager to return to action, Siyar Bahadurzada fights on for the Afghan people

According to a UFC Tonight report from Ariel Helwani, UFC welterweight Siyar Bahadurzada fell awkwardly before his last fight, back at UFC 168, and injured both his labrums and biceps. As a result, the Afghan fighter couldn't wrestle, punch or kick leading up to his contest against John Howard in late 2013.

After losing by decision, he tried rehabilitating the injuries with physical therapy. When that failed to help his injuries, he had surgeries on his labrums and biceps, in 2014. The 30-year-old says that the process was the hardest thing he's ever had to endure, and that he felt like a bird without his wings.

Now, the 170 pounder is hoping for a return to the Octagon in later summer. Currently, he's looking for a new team to train with.

Siyar went on to tell Helwani that there still is a small chance that he won't ever fight again, if his recovery doesn't go well, but he hopes that isn't the case. At this point in his career, Bahadurzada said that he isn't fighting for the money but rather to give hope to the Afghan people.
