Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone interested in fighting Robbie Lawler next
If former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler is looking for a fight, Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone knows a guy who might just be willing.
UFC president Dana White stated over the weekend that Lawler had been calling him constantly since losing the welterweight title to Tyron Woodley at UFC 201 asking for a chance to return to action sooner rather than later.
Lawler hasn't tasted defeat since falling to Johny Hendricks in 2014 and now the former champion is just itching to get back into the Octagon.
"I've got Robbie Lawler calling me everyday," White told NBC Sports Radio on Saturday. "That kid wants to get back in there so bad."
Well it didn't take long for at least one person to take the bait because Cerrone immediately responded on Twitter offering up his services as an opponent for Lawler.
Cerrone has been champing at the bit to get a fight ever since knocking out Rick Story at UFC 202 in Las Vegas just a couple of weeks ago.
Cerrone already offered to fly to Brazil in September to face welterweight fighter Erick Silva and now he's volunteering to get a crack at Lawler in November at UFC 205 in New York.
Considering Cerrone just signed a new eight-fight deal with the UFC, it appears he's anxious to get started on that contract and he's interested in the former champion as his next opponent.
