Dodson now faces Jorgensen

When opportunity knocks, John Dodson answers.

Following an injury to fellow flyweight Ian McCall that forced him out of his scheduled bout at UFC on FOX: Pettis vs. Thomson, Dodson has accepted the fight against Scott Jorgensen on the upcoming show in Sacramento.

McCall suffered a hand injury that put him on the sidelines and unable to compete in December, but the show must go on and now Dodson will get a chance to welcome Jorgensen to the 125-pound division instead.

Jorgensen moves to flyweight after a long career at bantamweight where he routinely sat in the top ten of the division. He fought in a 2010 title shot against Dominick Cruz in the WEC, although Jorgensen came up short losing by unanimous decision.

Lately, Jorgensen has fallen on tougher times losing three out of his past four fights, prompting the move down to flyweight.

He won't have an easy test for his debut, however, facing a top rated contender like Dodson on day one in the weight class.

Dodson takes the fight just over a week after he knocked out Darrell Montague in the first round at UFC 166. Dodson's one punch knockout was a highlight on a show packed with top notch performances, and he hopes to top that with another win to close out 2013.

UFC on FOX: Pettis vs. Thomson takes place on December 14 from the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California.
