Dana White says Conor McGregor has a decision to make regarding his next fight

Conor McGregor has a decision to make regarding his future at featherweight, but he'll be the one making the call on whether or not he has to give up his title before accepting his next fight in the UFC.

According to UFC president Dana White, McGregor won't be stripped of the featherweight belt he took from Jose Aldo last December with a stunning 13-second knockout, but it's time to either defend the title or move on to new goals.

White says that McGregor has a few options available to him as far as his next fight goes, but it won't be a trilogy with Nate Diaz and if he's not interested in fighting Aldo again, then it's time to surrender the belt voluntarily.

"He's not going to get stripped. He's going to make a decision," White told NBC Sports Radio recently. "He knows the Nate Diaz fight isn't the fight to make right now.

There have been a lot of rumors circulating that McGregor may want to go after lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez for his next bout, with a fight taking place at either UFC 205 in New York or potentially at the year-end card on Dec. 30 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Obviously, Aldo would like the chance to avenge his previous loss, but McGregor hasn't sounded all that interested in fighting the Brazilian again after shutting his lights off just two fights ago in December 2015.

For now, it appears the UFC will allow McGregor to decide his own course of action for what comes next but there will undoubtedly be a time limit on how long he has to either face Aldo to unify the featherweight titles or give up the belt to go after a new championship instead.
