Dana White: Ronda Rousey's return will be bigger than McGregor vs. Diaz
Ronda Rousey may return to the Octagon before the end of the year and it could be record-breaking business for the UFC.
That's according to UFC president Dana White, who believes Rousey's comeback fight will break the bank and beat every other pay-per-view on record, including the recent pair of fights between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.
White was asked point blank by Colin Cowherd on "The Herd" on Thursday if Rousey's return would do better financially than McGregor vs. Diaz and without blinking he answered "yes".
Rousey hasn't been seen inside the Octagon since she was knocked out with a brutal second-round head kick courtesy of Holly Holm in November 2015.
The date for her return has been pushed back numerous times since then, with the latest coming just earlier this week when White said that she would not fight at UFC 205 in New York on Nov. 12.
Sources have told FOX Sports that Rousey is currently in talks with the UFC about a return to action with a potential date before the end of the year with the most likely landing spot on the Dec. 30 card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Negotiations are ongoing and to date Rousey and the UFC haven't actually made any kind of agreement about her return to action.
White also says Rousey is currently recovering from a few minor surgeries that need to heal up before she can officially book her next fight.
"Ronda had a bunch of minor surgeries and they're healing up and when they are, I'm assuming she's going to fight," White said.
It's hard to say whether or not Rousey's return would have the same impact as the back-to-back battles that McGregor and Diaz just unleashed with both of their cards — UFC 196 and UFC 202 — expected to land in the top three all time for UFC pay-per-view cards.
