Conor McGregor responds to Eddie Alvarez's call out
Conor McGregor doesn't have to say much to get his point across these days.
Less than 24 hours after lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez challenged McGregor to meet him at UFC 205 in New York, the outspoken Irishman fired back with a simple two-word response.
Now McGregor's message on Twitter could be aimed at Alvarez but it could also be in response to UFC president Dana White, who told a fan on Twitter late Tuesday night that Khabib Nurmagomedov was getting the next shot at the lightweight title.
Mcgregor vs Alvarez #ufc205 @danawhite confirm or deny @TheNotoriousMMA @Ealvarezfight

@kylemuir17 @TheNotoriousMMA @Ealvarezfight not true it's @TeamKhabib

Nurmagomedov later taunted Alvarez on Twitter by saying that the title fight had been offered to him and he was just waiting on the lightweight champion to respond.
Me and Dana just waiting for Eddie to sign. I promise I will finish you fast and with no pain. https://t.co/4Zv9j8xejZ

Sources told FOX Sports on Tuesday that no deal had been struck for either fight although it appears Nurmagomedov was offered the fight against Alvarez on Nov. 12.
Of course, this could all be one big public negotiation because the rumored fight between McGregor and Alvarez has been swirling for weeks but the bout never came together.
So McGregor's two-word response could be firing back at Alvarez or he could be making a stand that the UFC 205 main event needs him more than he needs that particular show.
For now, the UFC still hasn't announced the main event for the upcoming show in New York and the only bout that's been confirmed by both fighters is the welterweight title fight between Tyron Woodley and Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson. Despite that announcement, the UFC still hasn't officially confirmed that fight either.
All of the other rumored bouts — including a potential showdown between Alvarez and McGregor or Alvarez and Nurmagomedov — remain in negotiations and unsigned at this time.
