Brian Ortega crushes Clay Guida with devastating knee at UFC 199

It looked like Brian Ortega might be en route to his first loss until the undefeated featherweight crushed Clay Guida with a knee strike to finish the fight late in the third round at UFC 199.

Ortega is notorious for late finishes having put away his last three opponents in the third round, and now he can add Guida to his growing resume of finishes.

The early going saw Guida looking sharper than ever with crisp striking and pitch-perfect timing as he popped Ortega with heavy shots throughout the first two rounds.

Known for his incredible conditioning, Guida pushed the pace with a constant barrage of shows and Ortega struggled to keep up with the veteran contender.

As the third round started, Ortega had to know he was in danger of potentially losing a decision so he turned on the afterburners and came after Guida with everything he had left.

Ortega started to land his best shots of the fight in those final five minutes and just as it looked like Guida might go for a takedown, he got caught with a devastating knee strike that send him careening to the canvas.

Referee Herb Dean immediately jumped in to stop the fight as Ortega celebrated his latest last minute win inside the Octagon.

For his part, Guida didn't even realize the fight was over as he jumped back to his feet a few seconds later as if the bout was still going on, but Dean had to inform him that he had been knocked out and the matchup was over.

Ortega now moves to 11-0 with one no contest as he continues to rise up the ranks as a threat to the featherweight division.
