Bec Rawlings explains why she missed weight ahead of UFC Fight Night 104

Bec Rawlings gave her side of the story surrounding her weight cut ahead of her fight against Tecia Torres at UFC Fight Night 104 in Houston

All but one of the fighters on the upcoming UFC Fight Night 104 card on Saturday in Houston made weight, with the exception being UFC strawweight Bec Rawlings.

Rawlings stepped on the scale at 117.5 pounds — 1.5 pounds over the 116-pound limit for a non-title fight in the weight class.

Although she missed weight, her opponent, Tecia Torres, accepted the bout. As a result, Rawlings was fined 20 percent of her fight purse, which is given to Torres.

Taking to her Facebook page, Rawlings gave her side of the story surrounding her weight cut.

In terms of competition, Rawlings (7-5), a former Invicta FC title contender, will be looking to get back into the win column after suffering a violent second round knockout to Paige VanZant at UFC on FOX 21 in August. This setback snapped her two-fight win streak, which included a decision over Seo Hee Ham and first round submission over Lisa Ellis.

Her opponent Torres (7-1), an American Top Team product, will be also be looking to get back into the win column after dropping a decision to Rose Namajunas in April.

UFC Fight Night 104 will go down at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. A featherweight bout between Dennis Bermudez and former title challenger Chan Sung Jung will serve as the event headliner.
