Roof shut over Wimbledon's Centre Court

The roof over Wimbledon's Centre Court was closed on Thursday for the first time during this year's tournament.

After three days of dry weather, showers caused the first rain delay at the championships and organizers decided to shut the retractable roof over Centre Court, with last year's runner-up Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland leading Mathilde Johansson of France 6-1, 4-2. After the normal delay of about 30 minutes while the roof closed, Radwanska returned to wrap up the second set 6-3.

Novak Djokovic's late match against American Bobby Reynolds was also to be played under the roof.

The retractable roof was installed on Centre Court in 2009, to help alleviate the perennial rain delays that often plague the tournament.
