Murray advances to quarters with easy win at Paris Masters

PARIS — Second-seeded Andy Murray reached the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters on Thursday after beating David Goffin in straight sets.

Murray lost just eight points on his serve and broke the 16th-seeded Belgian five times as he cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win.

The pair are expected to face each other again later this month in the Davis Cup final between Britain and Belgium in Gent.

The tie will be contested on a difference surface, after the hosts opted for clay.

Murray next faces either Frenchman Richard Gasquet or sixth-seeded Kei Nishikori of Japan.
