Davis Cup: Tsonga hurts ankle, retires vs Greul

Jo Wilfried Tsonga has retired with a sprained ankle against Simon Greul of Germany, ending the Frenchman's unbeaten run in the Davis Cup.

Tsonga retired while trailing 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 on Sunday, a day after France qualified for the quarterfinals when Michael Llodra and Julien Benneteau defeated Philipp Kohlschreiber and Christopher Kas for an insurmountable 3-0 lead.

Tsonga is expected to play the BNP Paribas Open starting next week at Indian Wells, Calif.

France will play Spain in the quarterfinals July 9-11.
