Berdych loses in 1st round at French Open

French qualifier Stephane Robert rallied from two sets down to upset last year's semifinalist Tomas Berdych in the first round of the French Open on Monday.

Robert beat the 16th-seeded Czech player 3-6, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, 9-7 after saving a match point in the ninth game of the fifth set.

The 31-year-old Robert matched his best result at a Grand Slam tournament.
