Bacsinszky pulls off another Miami Open rally, beats Halep

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. (AP) Switzerland's Timea Bacsinszky has pulled off another upset at the Miami Open, rallying past fifth-seeded Simona Halep of Romania 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 on Tuesday to reach the semifinals.

It was the second straight win against a top-five seed for Bacsinszky on Key Biscayne, both coming after she dropped the opening set. She ousted third-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska in the round of 16.

Bacsinszky will face 15th-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova or 30th-seeded Ekaterina Makarova in the semifinals. The Russian players are to play later Tuesday.

Bacsinszky broke Halep for a 3-1 lead in the second set on her way to knotting the match, then got two quick breaks for a 3-0 lead in the third and kept command the rest of the way.

Early winners in the men's round of 16 Tuesday included seventh-seeded Tomas Berdych and 18th-seeded Gillies Simon.
