Australia handed tough Hopman draw

Australia's team of Lleyton Hewitt and Alicia Molik has been drawn alongside top seeds Serbia in group A for January's Hopman Cup in Perth.

Serbia's team of world number two Novak Djokovic and former French Open champion Ana Ivanovic will go into the tournament as favourites, ahead of the USA team of Serena Williams and John Isner.

Australia is unseeded for the event and will also face stiff competition from fourth-seeded Belgium which boasts a competitive combination in Steve Darcis and former world number one Justine Henin.

The other Group A side is Kazakhstan, represented by Andrey Golubev and Yaroslava Shvedova.

Group B features USA, Great Britain's third-seeded pair of Andy Murray and Laura Robson, France's team of Gael Monfils and Kristina Mladenovic and Italians Potito Starace and Francesca Schiavone.

The schedule for the January 1-8 event is released on Tuesday.
