Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the key for Manchester United against Leicester City

Zlatan Ibrahimovic needs to end Manchester United’s losing streak

As controversy swirls around Old Trafford this weekend, Manchester United will need their stars to step up and quiet the noise. In particular, United need Zlatan Ibrahimovic to come up big tomorrow if they’re going to defeat Leicester City.

It isn’t exactly breaking news that United need their star striker to play well if they’re going to get good results. Tomorrow’s matchup against the Foxes requires Ibrahimovic to succeed even more than normal though. The Foxes’ style of play makes Ibra’s play vital.

Leicester City, of course, will be happy to sit back and let Manchester United soak up the lion’s share of the possession. That’s music to Ibrahimovic’s ears. He lacks the pace and quickness to hit out on the counter, instead preferring to work methodically in the box.

Simply put, he has to make his chances count against Leicester. His club will see plenty of the ball, which means they’ll certainly give him a fair amount of service. If he doesn’t cash at least one of those chances in for a goal, it could mean disaster for his club.

Leicester City are very likely to score at least one or two goals in the match. Their pacy attackers match up very well with United’s questionable centre back pairing. Jose Mourinho can’t count on his club to shut out the Foxes.

That means they will need multiple goals to win all three points. United’s attacking midfielders aren’t in the form to light up the score sheet. They might be able to nudge one goal across the line, but they can’t match their opponents’ potential firepower.

If United are going to get a much-needed win, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has to score. If he does, I like his club’s chances to get back on the road to recovery. If he doesn’t find the back of the net, it could lead to even more pressure at Manchester United.
