Young Tottenham fan who lost his legs and hands got to play in his first soccer game

Just one official game into his soccer career, Marshall Janson is already an incredible inspiration.

The eight-year-old Janson lost both his legs and hands to meningitis shortly after birth but has grown up as a huge soccer fan even without them. With the help of prosthetics, Janson has not only learned to walk but also play his favorite sport.

He gained fame earlier this year when his favorite team, Tottenham, invited him to practice his ball skills with some reserves on the pitch. It was a pretty awesome moment, and one that his mother said "completely boosted his confidence."

Janson has apparently been riding high ever since. He has gotten to hone his skills thanks to private lessons from his favorite Tottenham player, Harry Kane, and now he's putting them to good use.

Once too nervous to play soccer for fear of being ridiculed by his peers, Janson took part in his first official match recently. He even took home a couple trophies for his efforts.

Sometimes the importance of sports can be overstated quite a bit. Often times it's easy to say "it's just sports," but this is certainly not one of those cases. Soccer has clearly helped this youngster in his quest to overcome the difficulties life has thrown his way, and he seems to be crushing it. Good on him.
