World Cup 2022 highlights: Switzerland tops Serbia, 3-2, to advance
The group stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup came to a close Friday with Switzerland (2-0-1) outlasting Serbia (0-1-2) at Qatar's Stadium 974— and there was no shortage of action in the Group G tilt.
Elsewhere, Cameroon (1-1-1) handed Brazil (2-0-1) its first loss of the tournament in the other Group G match.

Switzerland didn't waste any time setting the tone early in this one, making big moves in the opening minute.
20': Goal!
Xherdan Shaqiri came up big for Switzerland in the first half, putting his team on the board early, 1-0, minutes after the first yellow card of the game was shown to teammate Silvan Widmer.

Serbia's Aleksandar Mitrović came up with the equalizer on this smooth header following a fast break.

Serbia took a 2-1 lead late in the first half thanks to a smooth shot from forward Dušan Vlahović.
Meanwhile, Switzerland's Rubén Vargas picked up a yellow card — the second of the match for the Swiss.

Breel Embolo came up with the game-tying score for Switzerland just ahead of halftime.

48': Second-half surge
Switzerland came out strong in the second half, as Remo Freuler knocked one in to give the Swiss a 3-2 edge. It marked the first time since 1994 that three different players scored for Switzerland in a World Cup match.
Meanwhile, Serbia's Sergej Milinković-Savić was shown the third yellow card of the game — Serbia's first.

65': Chaos ensues
No penalty was called after Mitrović made contact with Switzerland's Fabian Schar, infuriating Serbia's bench so much so that it spilled out onto the field.
Serbian goalie Predrag Rajković was shown a yellow card in the dust-up — Serbia's third of the match.
90'+5': Fired up
Things continued to escalate in stoppage time. Three more yellow cards were dealt before things ended, 3-2.
