Spain vs. Zambia highlights: Spain skates to 5-0 victory

The 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup continued Wednesday (on FS1 and the FOX Sports app) with a matchup between Group C's Spain and Zambia at Eden Park in New Zealand.

Spain came away with the win and will advance to the round of 16 after defeating The Copper Queens, 5-0. 

Teresa Abilleira was the first to strike, scoring her second goal of the tournament for Spain. That was soon followed by a nice header from Jennifer Hermoso, after a perfect pass from Alexia Putellas found the Zambia defense sleeping.

Hermosa and Alba Redondo had two goals each on the night as Spain continued its perfect tournament play and tied fellow Group C team Japan — the two will square off next Monday.

Spain added a fifth goal in the match with another killer strike from Redondo.

Hermoso scored another uncontested goal, this one after VAR review was called in Spain's favor to increase its lead to four.

Redondo beat both a defender, and the goalkeeper, to hit Spain's third goal of the night.

49': Protect the net

Zambia goalkeeper Eunice Sakala was clutch in a crucial save before the half.

37': Too far

Hermoso was hoping for her second goal of the night, but was called offside, which kept the score at 2-0.

25': Keep pushing

Barbra Banda gave Spain a run for its money as she pushed quickly toward the goal in an effort to cut Zambia's deficit in half.

12': Teamwork

Hermoso put herself in perfect position for a goal, as Putellas found her right in front of the net and delivered an easy pass for a header to put Spain up 2-0.

9': Goal!

Spain was first on the board with a goal from Teresa Abilleira.
