Wolves climb out of drop zone with Blackpool rout

Wolverhampton Wanderers provisionally climbed out of the Premier League relegation zone with a 4-0 rout of 10-man Blackpool on Saturday.

Matt Jarvis put Wolves ahead inside two minutes and they were boosted by Blackpool's leading scorer, D.J. Campbell, being sent off just before halftime.

His push on Richard Stearman proved costly after the break, with Wolves making their numerical advantage count.

Jamie O'Hara added a second in the 54th and substitute Sylvan Ebanks-Blake scored twice.

''It's just out of character, so something was not quite right with him today, and it really cost us,'' Blackpool manager Ian Holloway said of Campbell's red card. ''But this is no disgraceful result because Manchester United and Chelsea have already been beaten here. It's a tough place to come.''

Wolves, who started the day bottom of the 20-team standings, are now 17th but can be overtaken by West Ham and West Bromwich Albion in the coming days.

''We scored a fabulous first goal,'' Wolves manager Mick McCarthy said. ''Then D.J. Campbell gets himself sent off, and that caused them all sorts of problems.''

West Ham hosts Liverpool on Sunday and West Brom goes to Stoke on Monday.
