Wigan inks Espinoza from Sporting KC

Premier League club Wigan has signed Honduras midielder Roger Espinoza from Major League Soccer's Sporting Kansas City.

The 26-year-old Espinoza will debut in Saturday's FA Cup match against Bournemouth after agreeing a 2 1/2-year deal.

He says ''it's taken a while to get all the paper work done, but now I can concentrate on fighting for my place and helping the team.''

Espinoza became a US citizen in 2008 but opted to play for Honduras at the London Olympics.

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez says ''the Olympics in the summer gave a great example of just what he can do on the pitch, especially in his performances against Spain and Brazil.''

Espinoza got his visa on Thursday and has now flown into England to complete the finishing touches on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

"I am just so happy to finally be here," the Honduras midfielder said. "It's taken a while to get all the paperwork done but now I can concentrate on fighting for my place and helping the team."
