Werder Bremen's Djilobodji gets 2-match ban for throat-slitting gesture

Werder Bremen defender Papy Djilobodji has been banned for two Bundesliga matches and fined for making a throat-slitting gesture during a match.

The German football federation's sports tribunal gave Djilobodji, who is on loan from Chelsea, a fine of 15,000 euros ($16,700) for his ''crass unsportsmanlike conduct.''

Television footage showed Djilobodji running his finger across his throat to Mainz midfielder Pablo De Blasis, who was lying on the pitch after a clash during the sides' 1-1 draw on Saturday. Referee Manuel Graefe didn't see the gesture.

Senegal international Djilobodji will miss another match at the end of the ban because of accumulated yellow cards.

Werder is fighting against relegation and will miss Djilobodji in important matches against Borussia Dortmund, Augsburg and Wolfsburg.
