Wayne Rooney: Paul Pogba has 'unfinished business' at Manchester United

Paul Pogba's transfer to Manchester United still isn't done. But that hasn't stopped Wayne Rooney from chiming in on the midfielder, although he was very careful not to confirm that a deal had been completed.

"I hope he is going to want to return to United and prove he's a top-class player," Rooney told the Daily Mail. "If he is excited to play for us, we'll be excited to have him back."

Pogba played in the Manchester United academy and played three matches for the senior team before leaving the club when was 19 years old in a pay dispute. That's how he got to Juventus, where he blossomed into one of the world's best midfielders.

It's no wonder Manchester United want him back now.

"I'm sure he'll feel there is unfinished business, and it would be a very big statement by the club if they can make it happen," Rooney said.

"He had great ability, some of the things he could do, and he's gone up a level since he left us."

Pogba wouldn't exactly help Rooney's plans to transition to the midfield as he ages. That was Rooney's plan last spring and he played in the midfield for England, but that went pretty terribly so maybe Rooney has accepted that he'll have to stay a forward now.

Either way, Rooney is interested in winning and Pogba will certainly help him with that. The deal isn't done and Rooney made sure not to confirm anything, but Rooney also doesn't make a habit of speaking on transfer rumors. He's rarely asked about them and its even rarer that he comments on them. If he's decided to chime in on Pogba, well, you can do your own guessing on what that means.
