Watch Dimitri Payet score a goal that was compared to Lionel Messi's
West Ham are off to an atrocious start to their season and looked like they might loses to Middlesbrough.
Enter Dimitri Payet, noted Hammers hero and, on Saturday, one-man team.
That is five defenders beaten, all by one man. Payet took down the entire Boro defense, plus one midfielder and then, of course, the goalkeeper, without an ounce of help. It's outrageous.
West Ham manager Slaven Bilic heaped probably the highest of praise possible on Payet and his goal -- he compared it to one of Lionel Messi's.
"It was a great goal from Payet and brought us back into the game. I haven't seen many better than that," Bilic said.
"It reminded me of Messi's goals and was brilliant from Dimi. It got us a point, but unfortunately we didn't win."
No, it didn't get West Ham a win, just a point. But that forgets two things:
1. That goal should have counted for two.
2. Lots of teams get wins. It's not something super special. Being compared to Messi is.
The Dimitri Payet Show is the best in all of the Premier League.
